Photo by India Earl We often get asked how we are intimate in the van having a child with us and no bedroom. First off, we kiss and cuddle a lot. She sees it all. Sometimes she likes to squeeze in between us and join the cuddles or get some kisses for herself. We sometimes hear her making kissing sounds when she can hear us and it's hilarious. We think that in itself is very healthy for her to see. Love and intimacy between two people she loves and trusts.
Photo by India Earl Sex is important for us as I'm sure it is for most people. Growing up LDS, sex was considered a little taboo. You don't talk about it, it's sacred. That very reason is why it should be talked about because being intimate is SO important. Sex should seriously not be uncomfortable to talk about. It is beautiful and a very special thing to be experienced with someone you care about. And that's how it should be described.
Photo by India Earl We obviously have sex in our van. Not like we used to sorry Jace. We have a child with us now, she sleeps in our bed. It happens just as you would imagine, when she's asleep.
Sometimes we have to scoot her and shove a pillow in between her and us. It is quiet and yes, she's waken up to mommy and daddy rocking the van we quickly shove Juniper's pacifier back in her mouth and she goes right back to sleep. Lotus on the other hand She's experienced nothing scary and she's also young enough that if she were to see too much, it wouldn't scar her for life.
Photo by India Earl We also get ready for the mood at times. The van is our home. We literally do everything like we would at home in regards to the way things people do most things in "regular life". We sometimes light candles, I'll wear some cute lingerie which by the way if you were wondering, the lingerie in the photo above is by Mentionables , we play music, diffuse some essential oils, etc.
And finally the other favorite question to ask What will we do as she gets older? Well we will either no longer be living in a van or living in a new van where she has her own private space.
So if you see the van-a-rockin, don't come-a-knockin.
